Professional Experience:
Dr. Karsten
was raised on a diversified crop and livestock farm in northern Iowa
county. He has practiced farm animal veterinary medicine in
Nebraska, Illinois and Iowa and has been involved in nationwide
technical support positions within the livestock production and
nutrition field. Prior to joining the Kirkwood faculty, Dr.
Karsten served as the veterinarian for the Swine Education
Center. Dr. Karsten is interested in efficient and
profitable pork production that supplies consumers with a quality
and wholesome product. His hobbies include many outdoor
activities and attending livestock exhibitions.
