Education:
He has a B.S. in Animal Husbandry from Delware Valley College of
Science and Agriculture, Doylestown, Pennsylvania, and is currently
a graduate student at Iowa State University.
Professional
Experience:
Otis Armstrong, Jr. Professor, Horse Science Technology, is a
third generation horseman. Growing up in Massachusetts, his family
showed and trained all types of horses. Otis served a seven year
apprenticeship for a former Colonel in the U.S. Calvary. He worked
for numerous trainers in the New England area and was the Horse
Specialist for "Blue Seal Foods", which is presently owned
by Kent Feeds, before moving to Iowa 27 years ago when he started
teaching at Kirkwood in the Horse Science program. Otis is the
lead instructor for the program and manages the Kirkwood Horse
Enterprise. He teaches training, horsemanship, breed selection,
horse production proficiency, projects and horse shows courses for
the horse science program.
Honors &
Awards:
He was the New England Horseman's Council Champion in three
divisions for two years. He was the assistant trainer for the Worlds
Champion National Morgan, "Waseeka's Skylark."
