EDUCATION:

I graduated from Purdue University in 1986 with a Master of Arts degree in Rhetorical Communication. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from Purdue University in 1983.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

I have taught at Kirkwood since August of 1986. From 1986-1994 I was an instructor of Radio and Television in the Communication Media and Technology Department. I transferred to the Arts and Humanities Department where I currently teach Fundamentals of Communication,Public Speaking,and Group Communication. I am currently an advisor for Alpha Eta Rho the Kirkwood chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa,the International Honor Society for two year colleges.

HONORS:

I was named Advisor of the Year for my work in the Communication Media Program in 1993. I was named Who's Who Among America's Teachers' in 1998 and in 2002 and again in 2004. I received the Horizon Award for being an advisor for Alpha Eta Rho in 2001. I am also the Executive Vice-President for the Southeast Region of PTK for the state of Iowa. I also received the Robert Giles Award for excellence in advising for PTK. I have also recently received the 2006 Outstanding Male Organizational Advisor at Kirkwood

Personal:

I have been married for 20 years to my beautiful wife Carla. I have three children: Jordan (19),Chad (18) and Justin (15).
