Lower Wall/Floor
Framing
More framing going on. There will be several more framing pages in
this site before we're done.
The lower walls are more complete and the floor members are in place now.
Hey we rate! We now get a Port-O-Potty! We are also going to
have a lamp post in front.
A view from the front of the floor members. The garage gravel backfill
is on the right.
A close-up shot of the sill seal. Before they put the first plate on
the concrete they will place this sill seal.
It keeps the wood separated from the concrete as well as filling in any
irregularities of the top of the concrete.
A view from the back corner of the lot. This is the lower level.
sometimes the house feels small and sometimes it feels very large.
It's a perception thing that happens while a house is under construction.
I keep telling myself
"It'll be just the right size. You planned it out and figured all the
room sizes to meet your needs."
Here's a view of the lower patio area. The deck will be above. You
can also see the bracing on the
side of the wall. That will stay in place until the siding is in place.
It'll keep the wall square and plumb.
Here's the opening for the staiwell. Notice the way it's framed and how the
hangers are used.
This image shows how the beams are pocketed into the concrete walls.
This pocketing has to be taken into account before the walls are poured
otherwise it would be difficult to carve out.
Here's the other end of the beam. Notice how they are resting it on
several studs put together to carry the load. The framers notched the
top of the beam so that it wouldn't interfere with the double top plates
on the wall and still be flush with the top of the wall.
