 Carpet
The finish flooring is one of the last items to be installed.  The rough flooring is cleaned really well and then the finished flooring is laid on top.  All the subs will take their shoes off when entering the house once the flooring is in place.

Placing carpeting around corners and through closet doors can be tricky.
After the carpet is cut to size it is stretched to lie flat in the room.

A detail of the tack strip used to hold the carpet in place.  The carpet pad is also secured.

A detail of the edging strip used in the Lower Level. This is for the transition from carpeting  in the Family Room to bare concrete in the storage Room.

A close up view of the finish detail at the top.

An overview of the finish stairs.  Notice how the padding laps over the edge for a smoother lip.

The tack strip around ceramic tile.  Under the padding are tapered shingles so the transition from carpet to tile is not too severe.  There will be a slight slope up from the carpet to the tile. No shingles are needed for carpet to vinyl transitions.

some of the tools involved in cutting/placing/stretching carpet.

Trimming the carpet around the tile.

The finished edge.  It was difficult working with the tighter berber carpet.

Certain items such as the floor outlet had to be taken into account.

Detail of the vinyl and floor grille.

Appliances are in place.

A view of the closet shelving in the Master Walk-in Closet.  This particular type of design lets the hangars slide freely across the supports.  The top shelf and rod curves at the corner for a smooth transition.

A view of the Master Bath vanity, mirror, and lights.

A close up of the vanity.  The cultured marble top is a standard size with the backsplash as part of the top.  The side splashes were ordered separately and installed after the top was in place.
