 Driveway Layout
The days are getting colder.  The driveway was laid out today and will be poured
tomorrow.  It shouldn't get too cold  however to need additives in the concrete mix.

Our drive is ready to be poured.  The forms are in place and the gravel compacted.  They pour  from the sidewalk to the garage and from the sidewalk to the street first.  Once the concrete hardens  enough, they  take the forms off and pour the the sidewalk in between.

A close up of our front walk to the stoop.  Curves are made using a masonite type material which is easy to bend.  The stakes are used as reinforcement.  When concrete is poured it can put a lot of pressure on the sides.

A curve helps the transition between walk and drive.  You can barely see the stringline in this shot.  It is used as a guide to maintain a constant slope on the walk for drainage.

A close up of the connection between drive and garage.  The black strip is for expansion  or contraction.

The drive will slope down to meet the curb cut.  It is particularly tricky here so close to the storm sewer inlet.  We had to get an OK from the city to be so close.

This is how a ceiling fixture will be mounted in the cathedral ceiling.  The finisher will clean up the joints.
