Driveway
The drive and walks are all poured. The inside work is in full swing!
A view of the front. The concrete is poured and the slabs have been
saw-cut. These saw-cuts are called control joints. The idea is to control
where cracking might occur as the concrete expands or contracts.
Here is another little detail I thought of just before the front steps were
poured. I asked the workers to put a small PVC pipe under the steps.
Now at Christmastime I can run the extension chord for the lights under
the steps.
After so much deliberation as to where the gutters and downspouts would go
- I suddenly noticed they were installed. I think since we are so used
to seeing these downspouts they almost become invisible.
The gypsum board is now installed throughout the house. The floor is covered
with a thick paper to protect it from the next stage. The next stage
in the gypsum board installation is to tape the seams and texture the wall.
The tape, sanding, and texturing should occur in a warm/dry area. The
house must now be closed up and the furnace running. The other outside
doors have been secured closed. since this door will be used to enter
and exit the house it's wired closed.
A view towards the entry. Notice how the door is secured from opening.
A portable heater to keep the space at the right temperature.
Before everything is taped and textured all the corners are reinforced.
A view of the gypsum board at the pocket door.
A view of the Family Room. With the gypsum board in place the space
is getting more defined.
The concrete pad for the deck stair landing.
A view of the back. All that's missing structurally is the deck.
