 Insulation
The inside is getting ready for gypsum board!

A view of the front.  All it needs now is the window boxes to be complete.

The exterior walls get batt insulation.  The water pipes are also insulated.

After insulation, the walls are covered with a moisture barrier.  This barrier prevents the
warm humid inside air from condensing on the cooler insulation in the stud space during the winter.

Most of the attic will get blown-in insulation.  The vaulted ceilings however also will have batt insulation due to their slope.  The blue strips visible in this shot are vent spacers.  They allow the air to circulate in the attic area from the soffit vent at the eaves to the ridge vent at the top. Without these vent spacers there is a possiblility of the insulation blocking the airflow.  The airflow prevents damage to the roof by keeping the attic area cold .  A cold attic prevents snow from warming up and then freezing again.  This freezing and thawing cycle would damage the shingles.

A close-up view of the vent spacer .  This view also shows how recessed cans are installed.

Everytime I look at the furnace I think about an octopus.
There are so many tubes, shafts and pipes coming in and out of it.

sometimes it can get crowded up there!

A closeup view of our gas line.  The installer labelled where everything was going.
